porcelain paperclay, mixed media
It began with a shoe in the street. One shoe. Alone. Left behind.

why was only one shoe left behind,
who was the person it belonged to.
From these questions, I began to create a narrative around the object, using the shoe as a metaphor for a life lived..

This piece was launched on International Women’s Day 2016, alongside a special event for past and present female MLAs. The images include the process of how a piece of artwork such as this is developed, and included the use of paper maquette, collage and digital manipulation.
Data visualisation became the core methodology in developing the patterns for the surface.
